Ms. Kelsey Downer is a recent graduate of McGill University’s  Schulich School of Music.  There she received her Masters in Voice and Opera under the instruction of Joanne Kolomyjec, Michael McMahon, and Olivier Godin.  Kelsey participated in Opera McGill’s various productions throughout her time at Mcgill. Notably in 2015, Cupid in Venus and Adonis under the baton of Hank Knox as well as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro (CBC Broadcast) under the baton of Gordon Gerrard.  Kelsey was also fortunate to be apart of Michael McMahon’s song interpretation class for four consecutive years where she studied notable composers such as Wolf, Barber, and Schumann.

     Ms. Downer is currently living and teaching in the Montreal, Quebec area.  Ms. Downer is currently a Music Teaching Assistant at Imagination Daycare with Montreal Talent Education.    Ms. Downer is also an avid performer. In July 2016, she joined the Young Artist Program at Opera on the Avalon where she covered the role of May in John Estacio’s new opera Ours.  In addition to her work in the Opera, Ms. Downer has performed in numerous recitals with Opera on the Avalon.  In April 2016, she joined pianist Bryn Blackwood to perform apart of the L’oasis Musicale Concert Series with Christ Church Cathedral.  Their recital included works on Barber, Schumann, and Grieg.  Other notable credits include, In summer of 2014, Ms. Downer joined the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar in Weimar Germany.  There she spent the summer in the production Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor singing the role of Anna Reich.
